Hempstead Housing Authority (HHA) only has limited funding
available from HUD. Our public housing apartments have a low turnover rate as well. We assist the most families possible within the resources provided to us by HUD. The waiting
list remains closed if there are enough families subsidized and enough families
on the list to meet foreseeable funding and apartment availability.
HHA does not keep a list of interested applicants that want
an application when the list opens.
Notification about when any lists are open is done by advertisement in
the local media, the HHA voice message system, notices distributed to local
community centers, Village of Hempstead Library, community organizations, and
other means as deemed practical by HHA.
