How Do I Apply?
Hempstead Housing Authority (HHA) only has limited funding available from HUD. Our public housing apartments have a low turnover rate as well. We assist the most families possible within the resources provided to us by HUD. The waiting list remains closed if there are enough families subsidized and enough families on the list to meet foreseeable funding and apartment availability.
HHA does not keep a list of interested applicants who want an application when the list opens, and all lists are selected by a lottery system. Notification when any lists are open is done by advertisement in the local media, notices distributed to local community centers, the Village of Hempstead Library, community organizations, and other means as deemed practical by HHA.
When our waiting list is open, we only accept applications online at https://hempsteadny.housingmanager.com.
